If you love chalkboards but don’t love your handwriting, use these DIY French Faux Chalkboard Labels or Tags to add a little bit of charm to your home decor or gift wrapping sessions!
Hello, friends! Long time no seen, I hope all is well in your part of the world!
Things got really busy around here lately and it sometimes feels life time isn’t my strongest ally when it comes to getting all the things done… on time! :)
So today I’m sharing a quick tutorial (that you can try this week-end) and I’m telling you all about these super amazing DIY French Faux Chalkboard Labels or Tags that I absolutely adored creating!
I just LOVE LOVE LOVE chalkboards and I think I would put a little (or a larger) pieces everywhere, if my handwriting would be more calligraphic. But it’s not…
So I created these beauties for all of you who have the same problem, basically – a huge love for chalkboards, but not that much love for their handwriting. Are you with me on this? :)
I have a problem with deciding things lately (like a real life situation problem) … so I might have ended with creating 19 different DIY French Faux Chalkboard Labels or Tags :)
But who knew the stunning French graphics from The Graphics Fairy would look so good ‘chalkboardized’!? All the beautiful vintage frames, the French ephemera and all the ‘chalky’ backgrounds that I created look really great together, don’t you think?
I also might have gone a little overboard with shooting the pictures for this project, but
- I really love showing you as much details as possible while making the projects, so you can easily make them yourself
- I really love giving you as many ideas as possible on how to actually use the printables that I’m creating & how to easily integrate them in your home (and in your life)
- I really love practicing my photography while creating these projects and finding new and inspiring ways of showing my work
So I would say it’s a win-win situation for all parties involved (wink, wink) :)
I created the DIY French Faux Chalkboard Labels or Tags by adding a few ‘chalky’ details here and there so my little labels would look more like a real chalkboard.
But I also tried adding a little bit of white paint to for an even more realistic look. Oh, the wonders a little bit of white paint can do!
I really feel it adds more depth to the whole ‘chalkboardy’ concept and I’m pretty much in LOVE with these! :)
Adding them to different object all around your home would be so easy, I just love these types of projects that empower you to create high-end decorative pieces for your home!
I added the labels to apothecary jars (hello sugar scrubs and detox bath soaks), a vintage milk jug with a great sentimental value, bottles, tin cans, to name only a few. I’m sure you will find your own pieces in your home to ‘chalkboardize’!
And you can also do a little bit of home shopping while doing this, some of our old items just cry for need a little bit of chicness! ! :)
And do you guys remember the vintage books I showed you how to stain using coffee? To refresh your memory, here is the tutorial, I believe old books add such a fascinating touch to any vignette!
And when and if you decide to turn the labels into tags, there is only one thing left to say …
Hello new gorgeous ‘chalkboardy ‘wrapping sessions, perfect for any season! :)

I LOVE this look!! I would love to print them up, but was wondering if it is possible to do the white print without the black background and I would just use black paper…..save a lot of ink that way, Yes?? I’m not any good with graphics apps so I was wondering if you could steer me to info to keep just the white print …Thanks so much for so many wonderful printables!!!

Hey, Linda! Happy you like them!
These chalkboard labels were specifically designed for this project, it won’t be possible to print them without the black chalkboard background.
You could try printing a few of them on a copy center, if you want to save the ink from your home printer. I think it would be so much more cheaper!
Have fun creating!
