These beautiful DIY Faux Rusted Zinc Plates are part two of my beautiful DIY Faux Rusted Zinc Pots using a secret ingredient series that I shared last time! OK, part three if we also count the DIY Faux Rusted French Labels that I shared a few years back! :)
I actually made the pots and the plates together, but I really loved how the plates turned out, so I decided to share them separately. I felt like they really deserved a post on their own! :)
I’m not going into much details again, because I basically followed the exact same steps like I did with my zinc pots.
I’m guessing the secret ingredient is not all that secret anymore and you all know by now I used cinnamon to create this gorgeous faux rust. It really amazes me how a little bit of cinnamon and some paint can create such a beautiful effect!
But the thing that really makes this faux cinnamon rust authentic is its texture! It feels just like real rust when you move your fingers over it!
DIY Faux Rusted Zinc Plates
I told you last time I had to improvise along the way and use a little bit of color on my faux cinnamon rust to add depth. I did that here too, using watercolor paint. Acrylic paint would also work.

The French labels are adding that ‘tres chic’ special something and really complete the whole vintage look, don’t you think?
These beautiful DIY Faux Rusted Zinc Plates can be used on their own, as lovely decorative pieces and can be easily integrated into your home. Use them as plates for holding your keys or other small items around the house, or use them as trays to hold warm and cozy cinnamon-y drinks! :) Just perfect for the cold season!
