Ever wanted to make beautiful DIY Vintage Postage Stamps, that can be easily included into your creative projects? Find the right tools that you’ll need to make that specific perforated edge, you will be amazed how easy it is to actually make them!
Hello, friends! I love postage stamps in general, but the idea of creating my own has been on my to do list for quite some time. Yes, bringing a project to life can sometimes take a while, but I would say it was worth ALL the waiting! :)
The DIY Vintage Postage Stamps that I was envisioning had to have that specific perforated edge postage stamps always have. They just had to!
I wanted everyone looking at them to just say … ‘Wow, I’m simply in love with these amazing postage stamps!’ :) I wanted them to be easily recognizable … as postage stamps!
So I started experimenting with different types of tools and tried mimicking the well known perforated edge. And when I say tools I actually mean scissors, they were my main companion in the DIY Vintage Postage Stamps adventure! :) It was quite a ride because I usually start my projects with really high expectations.
And even though I ADORE all the different types of edges that I will be sharing with you, I have to say that one particular pair of scissors simply blew my mind! They turned out to be the perfect answer to all my DIY Postage Stamps dreams! :) That special pair of scissors? It was a pair of thinning shears!
I actually had these scissors for years and used them to style my hair but never in a million years would have thought they would work so well with my DIY Vintage Postage Stamps!
The perfect scissors for creating the perfect perforations
I will be only briefly mentioning the scissors that I used here – regular scissors, manicure scissors, thinning shears (for hair), pinking shears (for fabric) and decorative edge craft scissors. The whole step by step tutorial, with all the details, all the tricks and tips, step by step images to guide you through the process and many more are available on The Graphics Fairy. And of course, the beautiful free printable that you can easily download and save on your computer! Yassss!:)

⚜️ Another project that you can try: DIY Faux Rusted French Labels
When it comes to using these lovelies, the sky is pretty much the limit! I’m sure you will find unique ways of integrating them into your creative projects!
And if you print them of stickers paper, you will have some self adhesive adorable DIY Vintage Postage Stamps just ready to be used!
You could even write a letter to someone you love! Especially around the holidays, but on any other special occasions, too!
P.S. Mr. Dreamy hand modeled for me, we both loved how realistic these stamps actually look! :)
⚜️ Another project that you can try: DIY Salt Dough Rose Tags
I discovered the beautiful vintage green book that you can see in my photos while trying to create a little bit of contrast when styling my images and I simply fell in love with its color! The covers had some old packing tape stuck on them and instead of trying to remove the tape, I thought it would be fun to try covering them by adding some some liquid gold on top. What a brilliant idea that was! :) The gold added so much chicness and turned my somehow regular book into a decorative object on its own.

The beautiful free printable that I created for this project is made again, as mentioned before, using images from The Graphics Fairy. I used some amazing vintage flowers (and some botanicals), pretty butterflies and other small French elements that somehow turn these DIY Vintage Postage Stamps in some of the most amazing stamps that you have ever seen! Right? :)
