Make some beautiful DIY Vintage Gold Christmas gift tags and add chic metallic distressed touches to all your Christmas presents this year!
Friends, can you believe Christmas is just a few weeks away?! I still can’t believeeeeeeeeeee it! :) This time of year usually comes with a lot of work (the handmade shop keeps us quite busy) but we try to find time to also enjoy all the beautiful things this magical season has to offer.
I have a really special project for you today! I already did the hard part and created some chic printables for you, you will just have to download them and add a few golden touches to create highlights and interesting effects. Pretty quick and easy, just like we need for the busy days ahead. Because let’s just face it, we can already name the weeks until Christmas days, times has a way of flying by so fast from now on, don’t you think? It will be Christmas … in a blink of an eye, so we might as well just be prepared! :)
I adore these DIY Vintage Gold Christmas gift tags and they somehow manage to revive so many beautiful memories from my childhood, when we didn’t have so many stressful situations all around us. We just lived and tried to enjoy every minute of every day, taking things one step at a time, not overthinking everything or worrying about … everything. I kind of miss those days, don’t you?
I used images from The Graphics Fairy again, Karen’s amazing site is filled with so many stunning images! There are so many possibilities to get creative with her graphics, I just love putting together collages like these! This time I used jolly Santas, a few holiday wishes, post card writing, Christmas bells and Christmas ephemera, music sheets, holly leaves, red postage stamps (to get more quickly into the holiday spirit) and a vintage and distressed round frame that somehow put everything together.
Want to make these DIY Vintage Gold Christmas gift tags?
They are so easy to make!
You will have to download and print the tags on your paper of choice first.
Then you will have to gather a brush and some magical acrylic gold paint!
I’m a little bit obsessed with gold paint lately, remember my last DIY Antique Adult Coloring Mandalas? I feel that gold can bring details to life creating depth and dimension and I love integrating it into our home decor lately. Not in an ostensive way, but in a more gentle and subtle kind of way, creating glowy highlights or adding metallic accents here and there.
Quick tip: Painting your nails with metallic gold nail polish first might help getting into the creative mood! :)
You will have plenty of room to play and experiment with, gold paint can be quite versatile!
You will see that even though we will all start from the same printables, after finishing the project, your DIY Vintage Gold Christmas gift tags will be truly unique!
How to use the DIY Vintage Gold Christmas gift tags?
Why not use them EVERYWHERE? :)
Christmas gifts
Gold chocolate coins…yummy! :)
Christmas tree ornaments
And on tons of candles or luminaries, because you can NEVER have too many of those…! :)
Now it’s time for some Christmas music! :) I’ve also created THE perfect playlist for you! Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Sinatra, Nat King Cole …to name only a few of these classics! For maybe 10 years, we’ve been listening almost exclusively to these classic songs so we’ve created some sort of tradition. Good old Christmas music that we love … and I’m pretty sure you will love it too! :)
You can check Our Christmas playlist on Youtube or on Spotify. I kind of prefer Spotify lately, there are not so many annoying ads like the ones you find on Youtube.
I hope you will try this project, I’m sharing the link to The Graphics Fairy below – you will find the full article with the step by step process and the downloadable free printables!
Don’t forget to be good, Santa is already checking his list! :)

These are beautiful! I love anything vintage at Christmas! Question…have you put some sort of backing on these tags or glued them to something? How do you keep them from curling to use as a gift tag?
Diana / Dreams Factory
Happy you like them, Colleen!
I usually use regular cardstock paper and some curling may appear when the tags are larger, but I didn’t have any trouble with these, because they are a little bit smaller.
You could use a thicker cardstock paper (for example 170 g is the thickest type of paper my printer can handle) to print the tags directly on the paper. You could also try using some thicker cardstock paper, like you suggested and use it as your ‘base’ to glue the tags on top.
