Learn how to make these super chic postcards for Christmas. Use your favorite distress inks to give the postcards a lovely vintage vibe, then add gold foil to bring more interest and dimension.
Hello, creative friends! Today I’m sharing these lovely DIY Gold Foil Vintage French Christmas Postcards, a few messengers of joy that can accompany all your Christmas presents this year! A little bit of distress ink and a little bit of gold foil and you’ll be able to turn these simple cardstock postcards into vintage, delicately gilded beauties.
Gold foil is one of my favorite things to use these days, I love how just a touch of gold can completely transform a regular piece of paper. I’m thinking about making a series about using gold foil, with what to consider when applying it and unique ways of including it into your projects. Would you be interested in learning more about this?
The postcards come in different sizes, you’ll have several options to choose from – you’ll have a total of 16 postcards, one more beautiful than the other! :)
You’ll find some lovely Poinsettia flowers, vintage Santa with gifts, two cute sisters waiting for Santa by the chimney postcards, all prepped for Christmas, with specific Christmasy details. And all with a chic vintage French flair! :) You will also find a super chic vintage birds on a branch postcard design without any Christmasy details, just in case you want to use it on other projects too.

The postcards look beautiful on their own and you can really dictate the direction you want to take with these. Choose distress inks, like I did, or go with watercolors, coffee or tea stain, highly diluted acrylic paint, avocado dye or anything else that you want.
I’m always using a fine tip glue applicator to ‘draw’ with glue all over the details I want to gold foil. You’ll need a special gold foil glue that stays tacky after drying, this doesn’t work with regular craft glue!
The golden details really bring a new dimension to these DIY Gold Foil Vintage Christmas Postcards, I’m really happy with how they turned out!
cardstock paper | laserjet printer | scissors
mini distress inks (♥ Scattered Straw, Tea Dye and Walnut Stain)| blending tool with domed foams
gold foil| gold foil glue | fineline glue applicator
It would be really difficult to choose a favorite, especially when personally involved in designing and making these, like me, but I would be curious to know which one do you love the most. Could you pick just one from all the 4 absolutely gorgeous designs? :)
I’m sure you’ll find plenty of ways of using the postcards! Think Christmas presents, holiday-oriented vignettes, Christmas junk journals, even Christmas trees (why not) – all will look simply beautiful this year!
