DIY Aged French Pitchers – learn how to easily give regular glass pitchers a stylish makeover by painting and distressing them, then French decorating them using waterslide decal paper and your favorite French ephemera graphics
Hello creative friends! I know I am a little bit late to the party with the first month of the new year almost gone, but I want to wish you a happy 2019! I hope you will manage to shape this year into the year of your biggest dreams becoming reality, and you’ll be able to turn your deepest wishes into tangible actions that will bring you peace and happiness!
I have a beautiful and stylish project for you today using a regular household item that you might already have around … a glass pitcher! Yes, we are taking a plain glass pitcher and we are turning it into a stunning piece for your home decor! You won’t believe how easy this project is … and the final result will simply blow your mind! And do you guys know that saying: ‘I have paint in two different colors, a brush, candle wax and some sandpaper … and I am not afraid to use them?’ :) OK, I just totally made that up right now, but these are all key elements here! :) Along with a free printable and some amazing French graphics that will simply turn these DIY Aged French Pitchers into high-end designer pieces for your home decor! This could be a great project to make on a weekend, or when you just feel like relaxing or doing something creative … and productive! :)
DIY Aged French Pitchers
This was not my first time using this technique of painting and distressing on glass, and I’m sure you already know how much I love using this technique on other surfaces too. There are a few things you need to consider when using this technique on glass, but the main steps are basically the same. You can check my other projects here – > DIY painting and distressing.
As for using decals, there are a few things you need to take into consideration here, too! Like using a special cutting technique that will help you adapt the French graphics to the curvy shape of your pitcher!I will be sharing the step by step instructions and everything you need to consider when making these beauties over at the Graphics Fairy, but before leaving you with the link to go to the article, I have some GREAT news!
I have finally found a company on Amazon that sells THE waterslide decal paper I’m using! It’s the exact type of paper I’ve been using for the last (almost) 7 years from Forever, a German company that produces this type of paper in Europe. I have to tell you that I’m more than excited about this, because I know so many of you are having a hard time finding good quality decal paper where you live. This type of decal paper is specially designed for a laserjet printer and I’ve had amazing results with it so far! It’s not the cheapest thing you would ever consider buying, but if you want to try making something beautiful for your home, I highly recommend it! -> click here to buy the best waterslide decal paper!
