Learn how to make beautiful DIY Vintage Paper Key Tags to decorate your farmhouse, Shabby Chic or Vintage home with style … and open new doors and opportunities for the new decade!
Hello, creative friends! I’m happy to see you again, how is the new decade treating you so far? :) I’m off to a slow start this year when it comes to actually managing to post on my blog … and on social media in general. For now, let’s just pretend we are skipping January and we are starting the new decade in … February, shall we? :)
I felt like I needed some sort of a break from everything, to regroup and just start fresh! I haven’t set any major resolutions for this year, I just decided to open my mind and be more present in the moment, more perceptive of life’s logarithm in general, if you wish, embrace things as they come and really just go from there.
Try new things. See what happens next. Pretty simple! :)
I have to say it was a pretty good decision so far, because there were already so many exciting things just waiting to be discovered. Like learning a few things I had on my “Things I wanted to try” list for quite some time. Making sourdough bread was one of them – I’ve always wanted to do that, but for some reason I think I wasn’t ready for it until now! And oh, how amazing this sourdough stuff is, there is something so rewarding in making your own bread, don’t you think? I’m obsessed! :) OK, I’m obsessed with naturally fermenting things for quite some time (like making my own vinegar and Kombucha), but that’s another beautiful story for the future Foodie Factory blog that I will be releasing soon! :)
Naturally dyeing fabric with everyday ingredients – I’ve always wanted to do that too and I already have the images ready for a blog post! You will be amazed how a few everyday items can create such stunning colors!:) And so many other super exciting things, I will tell you more about these new exciting ‘skills’ in the nearest future, I’m sure you will love them too!
For the DIY kick starting part of the year, I wanted to start with a special project – the DIY Vintage Paper Key Tags! This chic and beautiful project has two meanings. A practical (and obvious) meaning of decorating literally everything in your home. Everything! :) And a symbolic meaning of opening the doors to new beginnings – new opportunities, new creative things to try, new __________ and new ___________ (just fill in the blanks with what you want)! :)
The beautiful vintage keys are from The Graphics Fairy and you will find the whole step by step tutorial there, with tons of pictures and instructions. And the free downloadable printable! The DIY Vintage Paper Key Tags that I created for this project come in different sizes and if you decide to make all the keys, you will have a total of 36 beautiful keys, with a 3D shape (I will show you how to do that too), just ready to be used on million on things!
SHOP THIS POST ♥
regular white paper OR cardstock paper | ink or laserjet printer (I have this laserjet printer) | manicure scissors or other small pair of (gold) scissors | toothpicks | glue applicator | a small brush | Mod Podge |
Speaking of trying new things, have you guys tried using a glue applicator before? I’m pretty obsessed with these lovelies lately and I’m finding new and new ways of using them. I’m using them with Mod Podge or other adhesives to create a glue structure (like I did here with the keys), but they can also be used with paint, I’ll show you other creative ways of using them soon.
I haven’t found the exact ones I’m using so I can share the Amazon links with you, just a few similar suggestions. But if you see them anywhere in craft stores, I would suggest trying to get ones that have a cap with a needle attached to it, so you can prevent the glue from drying and blocking the fine tip of the bottle. If you can’t find them like that, just use one of those colored glass head pins to prevent the glue or paint from drying.
I hope you will give my DIY Vintage Paper Key Tags project a try and please don’t forget that you hold all the keys for all the amazing opportunities and new beginnings there are just ready … to be unlocked! :)
