Make these simple yet stunning DIY no-sew fabric pumpkins in just 5 minutes and use them all over your home for beautiful fall decorating!
With all the craziness going on in our everyday lives, quick and easy projects are always on top of my DIY lists! I love finding unique ways of decorating our home, especially when transitioning to a new season. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE buying new things for our home, but I think I love even more making them myself! :)I usually (try) to keep a low budget in mind when doing these projects and I have to tell you that today’s project couldn’t be less expensive!
To make these stunning no-sew fabric pumpkins in just 5 minutes you will need some scarves, some toilet paper rolls and some wooden sticks (for the stems). You will also need some kitchen towels or some fabric to add a little bit of volume to your pumpkins. And some white wrapping or tissue paper to protect the scarves when adding the wooden stems. The white paper can also add dimension to your no-sew fabric pumpkins if you choose to show some of it on top.
I’m not really a huge fan of using toilet paper for my projects, but it creates the perfect base for these pumpkins, so I thought I would give it a try this time. I really really loved how they turned out … and I almost instantly forgot what was tucked in there! :) As for the scarves I might have bought a couple of white sheer scarves especially for this project :) Why? Because white pumpkins are my favorites in general when it comes to decorating for fall! And because I wanted a super simple white fabric that would go with our white furniture and home decor. But of course you can use your favorites – one color or multi colored scarves (or other sheer fabrics), with patterns or anything that your heart desires, some that would match your tastes and would go well with things that you already have in your home.
You can use these no-sew fabric pumpkins to create some simple but super chic vignettes with other decorative items from your home.
Books, especially old looking books are a great addition to any vignettes! If you don’t have any old books, use this painting and distressing method or just use highly diluted brown paint, tea or coffee to stain them yourself. If you are interested in this last method, I’ll show you in a future post how to turn new books into vintage looking decorative pieces in no time! You can add angel statues, real pumpkins painted white (or not) to your vignettes, trays, jars, old bottles. Again, the sky is the limit here.
1. Prepare your scarves, toilet paper rolls, wood stems and towels (kitchen or bathroom towels would both work, but you can also use other pieces of fabric).
2. Fold one towel until you get a dimension similar or smaller to the height of the toilet paper roll and wrap it around it. This will give our pumpkin a little bit of volume and a more spherical shape.
3. Tuck one of the ends of the scarf into the toilet paper roll and use your index finger to temporary secure it there while completing the next step.
4. Take the other end of the scarf and (using your other hand) go through the center of the roll several times, in up and down moves, until all the surface of the toilet paper roll is gradually covered.
5. Tuck the end of the scarf into the roll and if necessary, adjust the creases some more.
6. Wrap a piece of paper around one of the the wood stem’s ends. This will help protect the fabric, but will also add dimension to the final pumpkin shape. Tuck the wood stem in the center of the pumpkin.
Done!
This is how the most beautiful and stylish no-sew fabric pumpkins are born! :)

I Love making these pumpkins they are so easy to make, last year I made 20. I found if I sit on the toilet paper roll it squashes in and makes it rounder!

Thank you, Mary Beth! I really loved how easy it was to ‘put’them together’!
They would look really good with a French fabric label, I think you just gave me the best idea :)
