Make this scrumptious DIY Coffee Orange Sugar Scrub at home using simple ingredients that will leave your skin smooth, radiant and moisturized.
One of the many things I love about Christmas are the gifts ... obviously :) But as much as I love receiving gifts, I also love finding myself on the other side of things - gifting, and I try coming up with beautiful gifts for family members and friends.

Homemade gifts are the best! ♥
And when this particular homemade gift:
○ is made using ingredients that you already (hopefully) have around
○ is healthier
○ costs way less than its store bought version
○ can be easily customized with your favorite essential oils
○ can be Frenchified with a chic apothecary jar
You just know you are on to something! :)
So today I thought it would be fun to spread some holiday cheer with this amazing DIY Coffee Orange Sugar Scrub, that can become a great gift for yourself or for someone dear to you. Because let's be honest ... we all need a little bit of pampering now and then, right?

We are only using Christmas as our excuse to make this scrub right now, but of course it can be made in any other season or any other day of the year.
What to expect when making this scrumptious DIY Coffee Orange Sugar Scrub?
First of all, when you will start mixing all the ingredients, your house will smell simply divine! The fragrance of coffee will flood the air and you might feel like you are relaxing with a good book in your favorite coffee shop!
This DIY Coffee Orange Sugar Scrub will leave your skin surprisingly smooth and moisturized! The 3 key elements here are finely ground coffee, brown sugar and sweet almond oil! These three will create the base for our luxurious scrub, that can be used in this formula.
But why stop there when you can take things to the next level, right? :) Adding a few drops of orange essential oil will add richness and will accentuate the coffee in such a sublime way!

And when you will put this DIY Coffee Orange Sugar Scrub on your body ... expect to feel like you are in heaven! :) The coffee smell will be quite powerful on your skin, but not in a overwhelming way, but more in a delicate kind of way.
NOTE: I used fresh coffee grounds for this scrub and I usually take the fresh and not the used route when it comes to coffee scrubs. Why? Because I tried adding used coffee grinds in my scrub once and it was a complete fail! Even though I let the coffee dry before actually using it in the scrub, in a few days I had a few mold spots appearing on the top of the jar. I discarded the whole thing and you should do the same if that ever happens to you, moisture is your biggest enemy here!
The coffee has anti-inflammatory properties and along with sugar will help you with the exfoliating and removing all those death cells part, while the oil will help you with the moisturizing part.

I usually love using this sugar scrub after a quick shower in the morning and I try to avoid using it right before sleep. As much as I enjoy all that caffeine and energy boost coffee will give your body in the morning, getting that same effect when you are trying to get some sleep might not be such a good thing. Just saying! :)
NOTE: I really recommend using a finely ground coffee to avoid irritating your skin!
HOW TO USE THE DIY COFFEE ORANGE SUGAR SCRUB
You can keep this scrub nearby and use it on your hands, it might become useful especially if you love gardening or painting ... or just want to feel your hands super smooth! :)
The scrub can also be used on your face once in awhile, just remember to avoid the eyes area.
But as a general rule, this amazing scrub is basically safe to use all over your body, just try not to go overboard and use it too much. The two times per week formula works great for me!

HOW TO MAKE THE DIY COFFEE ORANGE SUGAR SCRUB

Make this scrumptious SPA scrub at home using simple ingredients that will leave your skin super smooth and moisturized.
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup coffee (finely ground)
- 1/2 cup sweet almond oil (add more or less, depending on your preferences)
- 15-20 drops orange essential oil (or your favorite essential oil)
- 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil (optional)
-
Measure and add all the ingredients to a bowl.
-
Use a spoon or a popsicle stick and mix them well.
-
Add the mixture to an apothecary jar (or another container) with a lid and store it in a cool dark place.
-
Use it after taking a bath (or a shower) when your skin is still wet.
-
Massage it onto your skin using a circular motion, starting from your feet and going up.
-
Let it sit on your skin for about 10 minutes, then rinse.
Things will get quite slippery at this point, please be careful!
-
Pat dry your skin ... and prepare to be amazed how smooth and moisturized it feels! :)
- The quantities mentioned above will make about 1 - 1 1/4 cup of sugar scrub.
- The shelf life of the final product can be quite long (a few months), but keep it mind that it will get in contact with water/ moisture when you will be using it. To avoid spoilage it is best if used within 3-4 weeks.
- I used sweet almond oil for this recipe, but you can also use other types of oils - avocado oil, coconut oil, even olive oil, etc.
Where to buy the ingredients
I usually order this type of DIY beauty ingredients from Amazon, but because Amazon is not yet available in my country, things can get quite pricey sometimes.

So what I do in this case? I order them online from iHerb, of course! :)
I just love iHerb, are you guys familiar with it? Have you ever ordered something from them?
It's such a dreamy site, filled with tons of natural and healthy ingredients!
And they often have such great deals when it comes to shipping worldwide, which is a big plus ... because you get to spend more on the products itself! :)
I will list below the products that I'm usually using for this scrub, but I also created an iHerb shopping list with some of my favorites -> PRODUCTS I ♥ - iHerb.
Coffee - use what you have
Brown sugar - Amazon | iHerb
Sweet almond oil - Amazon | iHerb
Orange essential oil - Amazon | iHerb
