DIY Faux Ceramic French Apples – learn how to easily turn inexpensive plastic apples into beautiful decorative ‘ceramic’ pieces for your home, giving them a chic French makeover.
Hello, friends! I’m back with another DIY project … simply perfect for fall! :) I’m sharing these lovely DIY Faux Ceramic French Apples with you, you will get to experience how a little bit of paint can do wonders with these apples, giving them a stunning decorative ‘ceramic’ finish!
I’m always trying to find new ways of slowly transitioning to a new season in terms of home decorating … in a not too expensive kind of way, as much as possible. We have other things and other priorities on our mind right now, 2020 has definitely been a challenging year for everyone.
But I believe it’s important to try and bring a little bit of joy into our lives and our homes are definitely an important element when it comes to finding some sort of a balance. A key element, I would say! We need to love our homes and a small seasonal handmade item placed (strategically) here and there can really make a big difference – it can bring a smile to our face!
This project can be adapted to your needs, please don’t be afraid to experiment with other colors if you feel like it. I usually go with neutrals because I find them easier to adapt to our home, but you can definitely paint them as you wish. Make them the DIY Faux Ceramic French Apples of your dreams! :)
Inexpensive items can be turned into something truly unique, who would have thought plastic apples could look this gorgeous? The truth is that once you start loving to idea of painting, there’s really no turning back! You pretty much want to transform anything that you lay your hands on! Please tell me it’s not just me! :) !
Finding these plastic apples was quite an adventure! I’m not sure if I just went looking for them a little bit too late (hasn’t fall just started?) or people are stocking on plastic apples (haha), but these were the only apples I could find. They were a little bit smaller than I wanted but hey, sometimes you just have to work with what you can find!
The other special item that really gave my apples a high-end look was … metallic gold nail polish! I know, not your everyday painting supply, but when you run out of gold acrylic paint you just have to improvise! :) And it was a really good choice, the final results were simply beautiful!
As for the chic French printable, I’m sharing a variation of my Faux Rusted French Labels – the free French ephemera printable comes with labels in different sizes, so you can easily adapt them to your needs. Your apples in this case! :)
You’ll have a few options when it comes to choosing your paint and actually painting these beauties, but you will see that the process itself it’s really easy!
I’m in love with how these DIY Faux Ceramic French Apples turned out! And because bringing a little bit of nature indoors always seems like a good idea, I just added a few apple tree leaves and small branches to the whole fall scenario, to make them more beautiful. If that was even possible! :)
If you want to try another totally inexpensive, but super chic (quite surprising I would say) project , you can also check my DIY No Sew Fabric Pumpkins, another simply perfect, seasonal project!
You can add other small items to create chic vignettes with these apples and place them all around your home, don’t they look soooo beautiful with this vintage coffee cup? :)
The nail polish is definitely a pleasant surprise, it really captures the moody light of fall in such an amazing way!
I would say that the moral of this story is that you don’t have to spend too much money while transitioning your home decor to another season, you simply have to adapt and learn how you can easily transform things that you already have around!
Now go look for those plastic apples (pears would also work great) that you’ve been keeping for ages, they are NOW ready for their new French makeover! ;)
