I hope you are ready for a new decorating session, because today I have some more painted and distressed chic French jars for you! Ones that can be perfect for spring decorating … or for any other season, for that matter. To be more exact, I have a few quick and easy tips on where and how to use them and even pair them with things that you already have in your home. We don’t want to break the bank while transitioning to a new season, right? :)
First, I have a confession to make. I cannot stand this dreadful winter anymore. Not for a single day! The weather keeps playing tricks on us making us believe that THIS beautiful and sunny day will be the ending of this cold season, only to come back the next day with (way too) low temperatures and cloudy skies. So I decided not to play its games anymore and in my mind it is already spring! :) And sunny and warm and the nature is starting to slowly wake up from it’s beauty sleep! Take that ugly winter! :)
10 Tips for spring decorating with chic French Jars
1. Use painted and distressed chic French jars in different shapes and sizes to create depth, height and to add some texture to your home decor.
2. Use fresh flowers or any type of greenery to give your home a fresh and clean look. I love using the type of boxwood (I’m not sure if it has a more specific name) that you see in the pictures, it lasts for a few weeks and I love the natural look it brings to any room.
3. Mix some simple unpainted small bottles and aesthetically arrange them to create a beautiful vignette along with your chic French jars.
4. Use an old cutting board or make one yourself and use it under all or some of the jars to create a layering effect. You can use a painted and distress cutting board.
Or you can use a stained cutting board to create some contrast with the white jars. OK, I’m assuming here you are making the jars white, like I did here, but you can also create other beautiful colors in pretty pastels.
5. Use the two cutting boards together, this time vertically, behind the painted and distressed chic French jars and create a beautiful vignette for your kitchen. Integrate large kitchen jars or other glass recipients with a lid (the ones that store your oats are just perfect) or other painted and distressed French boxes (like these or like these). You can even use a nice brown cardboard box, if you are going for a more natural look ( mine holds the perfect pie dish from Revol, a French company that creates amazing handmade bakeware products).
6. Add some coasters (or other round or square wood scraps) under one of the jars to create some more layering. I absolutely adore the clock faces coasters from Shabby Art Boutique, I use them all around our home.
7. Strategically place the chic French jars in different areas of your home, creating small beautiful vignettes for all your rooms.
8. Use the chic French jars as vases or use them to hold your kitchen utensils, your pencils, makeup brushes or your painting brushes, the possibilities are endless here.
9. Use them to plant your favorite herbs or hold fresh cuttings indoors (remember how I used another ‘batch’ of French jars for a different seasonal decor with flower, fruits, fresh herbs and essential oils)? I bet they would look amazing in your kitchen with fresh mint, basil, parsley or rosemary, to name only a few! These herbs do great indoors and this way you can always have them around when creating tasty recipes.
10. Get creative and learn to adapt to the things and other decorative pieces that you already have in your home or garden (indoor or outdoors). The most amazing ideas are right under your nose, if you take the time to look at them! These jars are truly versatile, I guess that’s one of the many reasons I love them so much! :)
