Hello, friends! I really feel that we need to bring as much beauty into our lives as we can, especially in these troubled times! Small things like decorating our home with fresh flowers can really lift up our mood and help us cope better with the current (sometimes quite stressful) situation. Bringing a little bit of nature indoors can instantly brighten up our homes … and our lives!
Lilac is one of my favorite flowers, I love how it’s really delicate but in the same time, also holds so much personality!
And when paired with a beautiful, truly unique DIY French vase that you decorated yourself? They are simply a match made in Heaven! :)
I’m a visual person and the beauty of lilac flowers always bring a large smile on my face. I’m even smiling right now when looking at these photos! :)
I actually photographed the chic lilac and the unique DIY French vases last year but never got around to posting them on the blog. Until now! :) Now feels like the perfect time to actually share them with you, I really hope they will bring you a little bit of happiness!
Chic decorating with lilac and unique DIY French vases
I’m sure you already know by now how much I love making my own decorations and adding my personal touch to regular everyday items, all around our home. I decorated this chic French vase from Ikea a while ago (in 2015?!!) and I still adore it! You can find the DIY project here -> DIY French Vases. It’s a quick and easy faux enamel Ikea hack!
As you can see, the waterslide decal paper is still holding, even after all these years! Have you tried decorating with decal paper yet? It’s one of my favorite ways when it comes to quickly adding a little bit of charm to an object!
I just love decorating beautiful French vases and using them in our home with fresh, seasonal flowers! But if I don’t have any fresh flowers around, I don’t stress too much. I just replace them with a few dried lavender sprigs and turn the vases into essential oils diffusers! So chic, but also practical, this way our home smells beautiful and feels fresh, no matter the season!
The next ‘vase’ I had fun playing with is actually a small apothecary bottle, one that I decorated using these lovelies -> DIY French Ephemera Fabric Labels. I made the fabric label using the iron on transfer technique, this too has passed the test of time!

For the next vase I want you to try imagining it’s potential! :) I know the title of this article is how to decorate with lilac and unique DIY French vases and this vase right here has no signs of Frenchiness whatsoever. For now it’s just a beautifully shaped vase, but I think it would look amazing if French decorated. Just a little bit, maybe with a chic French ephemera label? Or maybe completely transformed with white paint AND a chic French ephemera label? What do you think? What would you do? Decisions, decisions ;)
P.S. Let’s just take a minute to smell this gorgeous lilac! Can you feel how incredibly fragrant it is? :)
