Hello, friends! Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? :) And for some chic Gold Hearts with Love Messages? :)
I feel like we don’t really need just ONE day to celebrate love, because love should be celebrated everyday! Making a present for someone you love is always a good idea, especially when it’s a handmade one! So I’m sharing with you today our Love collection, a starting point for Valentine’s Day, if you wish, but also for any other day of the year that needs a little bit of … love!
First on the list – some beautiful Gold Hearts with Love Messages.
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with gold throughout my creative journey during the years, but now I feel like I’m at that point when I’m just loving it! You might have seen some bits of gold here and there on my Christmas related posts, but ever since I discovered gold foil I pretty much just want to add it to anything! Anytime of year! :)
And these chic little gold hearts? They can be turned into a thoughtful and meaningful present no matter the occasion or the season.
Just to give you a few ideas, the hearts can be personalized as you want. Again, the sky is the limit! They can be made with something that really means something to you and your loved one. Or your loved ones, because they make the perfect gifts for all family members or friends. You can even add a small magnet on their back so you can display and enjoy their beautiful messages everyday … on your fridge!
Think about your favorite quotes, your favorite lyrics from your favorite song, a fragment from a beautiful love letter you wrote to your significant other years ago, a poem that you both love, there are so many possibilities here!
Or why not use a funny message? :) We sure need some humor in our lives, we sometimes tend to take things (and ourselves) maybe a little bit too serious, don’t you think? A daily dose of laughter is good for the soul!
Gold Hearts with Love Messages – perfect for Valentine’s Day (or any other day)
We sell these cute little hearts in our shop in Romania, but because we don’t ship internationally, I’m sharing with you the steps to make them. This way you can recreate the projects I’m making!
So I used MDF to make the little hearts (actually Mr. Dreamy helped with that part), I painted them with acrylics – in 2 contrasting colors (metallic gold and white) and some candle wax in between the layers – and I distressed them using sandpaper.
I made the designs in Photoshop using the Flamingo Script font (from Blessed Print) and the Rotundio font (that was included in this amazing Big Bundle also from Blessed Print). I absolutely adore all the fonts from Blessed Print, especially the ingenious way they are crafted so you can easily add swashes and ligatures to your letters, while you write.
I printed them on waterslide decal paper and I applied them to the distressed hearts. I then used my glue applicators to write over the words I wanted to foil and then I applied the foil. Of course you can also use any other image transfer techniques to transfer the text to the hearts.

P.S. Do you guys remember the decal coffee cups that I shared for Valentine’s day last year? I actually made them using another gorgeous calligraphy font from Blessed Prints called The Mozart Script.

I really love how a little bit of gold manages to turn anything into something truly unique! You will be amazed to see how the gold finds new and new ways of shining and capturing the light, it’s quite mesmerizing to watch that gold-light dance during the day!
But photographing the gold … that’s another (not that great) story :) I had quite a hard time trying to capture all that metallic and shine! And even thought I’m (pretty) happy with how my photos eventually turned out, I still feel that the chic hearts look so much better in real life! So you just have to make them to see! :)
I also designed a few messages for my hearts in Romanian, my native language. We have our version of Valentine’s Day here called Dragobete and we celebrate it on February 24th. So we pretty much celebrate love (at least) twice a year! :) For these hearts I also included a few Romanian traditional motifs that I painted with glue and then foiled and I really loved how they turned out!
You can even add gold foil to air dry clay and believe me, once you discover the wonderful world of gold foiling, you will be forever and ever hooked! That is if you haven’t already discovered it, but then I’m sure you’ll pretty much agree with me! :)

I’ve also turned a few of the hearts into trinkets by adding some specific red and white twine! Romanian trinkets are called “Martisoare” and are usually gifted to women of all ages at the beginning of March to celebrate the coming of the spring!
And some gold foil flowers were also created to decorate the boxes for the hearts! I added scrap foil to create the center of the flowers, giving them a beautiful 3D look.
Hope you like my Gold Hearts with Love Messages! What other messages that mean a lot to you would you write on them? 💛
Don’t forget to smile,
Diana
The hearts and flowers are so cute!! Thanks for sharing.
Happy you like them, Pam!
